Strange weather in London and Ups & Downs of gardening
Hello, Happy Thursday!πΏ For the last couple of weeks it has been a strange weather in London (strong wind, rain and up & down temperatures) and to be honest, I lost my gardening mojo a bit!ππ
It was heart-breaking for me to see my potted tomatoes falling down, not being able to cope with high winds; cucumber leaves getting yellow due to lack of nutrients in small pots. Β
I felt like I failed to provide the best possible conditions for my baby plants, but it was too early to plant them out in the ground because of ever-changing night temperatures.β So yes, recently my life was full on gardening stress!π Β
Last weekend I finally planted out tomatoes on the plotπ and they are doing ok protected by DIY windbreaker built by my husband.π This is one less thing for me to worry about! I will plant chives (to repel insects) and basil (to improve tomato flavour) around tomato plants and nasturtium to make tomato bed look pretty.πΈ
We also created a new raised bed (thanks to hubby again!π) for strawberries and moved strawberry plants from paths and other awkward places where they were growing on the allotment. Strawberriesπ seem to be happy in their new home and started flowering abundantly.
Have you also found that this year is slow for gardening?π And how are you coping with that?
Have a good weekend!π I will be re-potting chillies in their final potsπΆ, cleaning and storing tulip bulbsπ· and planting out purple dwarf beans. (Fingers crossed for the good weather!π)
